Dream Symbols

Dreams give us some insight into our subconscious mind.  Here are the meanings behind some of the most common symbols found in our dreams:

Babies
Babies represent something new coming into your life - it you are pregnant, or giving birth to a baby in your dream, this is a new project you are starting and represents personal growth.  If the baby is walking, it's a newfound independence.  Lots of babies indicates happiness, joyfulness.  If you dream of a crying baby, or a sick baby, it is a warning that difficulties may be ahead, so be cautious in business and romance.
 
Flowing water (a stream, river, etc.)
Water represents emotion.  Clear calm water represents clear, calm emotions, and turbulent water represents turbulent emotions.  Gently flowing water represents contentment, and peace of mind.  A waterfall represents a potential rise in status, or wealth, possibly a promotion at work.
 
Flowers
Brightly colored flowers are a predictor of great happiness.  Wild flowers represent an upcoming adventure.  Flowers that are dead, dry or wilted indicate a warning not to be too confident or careless.
 
Beach/island
If you dream that you are stranded on an island, this indicates an obstacle that you will need to overcome.  If you dream that you are living on an island happily this indicates an exciting adventure coming your way.  Dreams of sand are a warning to be careful with new acquaintances who may try to take advantage of you.
 
Trees or forest
Planting trees means that you'll have good fortune in love and friendships.  Cutting down trees means that you're making things harder for yourself than they need to be.  Climbing a tree means that you have hard work ahead of you.  Blossoming trees represent unexpected good news coming your way.  Tree stumps mean that change is ahead.  If you feel happy in a forest of green trees, it means that something you are worried about will soon be going away.
 
Birds
Singing birds, or brightly colored birds mean good fortune coming your way.  Eggs in a nest mean money.  Broken eggs mean disappointment.  An empty nest is a signal to stay away from arguments with the family.  If you dream of a bird's beak, it means you're in for a move.
 
Mountain
A mountain represents an obstacle.  How you handle this mountain signifies the outcome.  If you climb it easily you will overcome the obstacle easily, etc.
