Question

Dear Lisa,

I happened to discover your website by accident and was hooked…I have discovered that my predominant dosha –  is Vata and after reading about it more, I think that it might be causing fertility problems for me; i have been trying to conceive since last 2.5 years with no success…

My approach has been focussed more on natural methods like acupuncture and occasional meds…all my and my husband’s tests are normal and my Dr is not able to tell us what’s wrong and it’s definitely putting a lot of strain on our marriage.

Is there anything in Ayurveda that could help with increasing my fertility?

appreciate your help!

thank you!

Answer

You are correct that it is often more difficult for Vata dosha types to conceive, but it is possible – Vatas are having babies all the time!  There is a whole science behind ayurveda and fertility, and it is best to consult with an ayurvedic practitioner to come up with a plan that is specific to you.  Find someone local who you could meet with in person so that doctor can follow your progress.  In the meantime, here are some articles I found online to get your started thinking about things you can do on your own:

And to keep your Vata in check generally, make sure you get enough sleep, meditate twice a day, and do abhyanga (warm sesame oil self-massage) daily.  Eat regular meals, and snack on almonds and sip Vata tea throughout the day.

Keep me posted on your progress –

Namaste!
