| Without even going anywhere, we can live like a traveler, or live like a tourist. I like the idea of getting out there and having an adventure, setting out to discover new people, places, and things. That sounds more fun to me than looking out the window at things going by, just happening without any actual involvement. We can plan our days with the same enthusiasm that we do when we are traveling - finding interesting things to see and do, and new people to meet, any time we want to! Travel doesn't change us, we change ourselves because we choose to do so, by facing our issues and dealing with them. Travel can help us to learn and grow, and we can choose to take that "new and improved" version of ourselves with us. One of the benefits of travel is that it gets us out of our routines. It stretches us to try new things, to expand our horizons. It allows us to experience the world first hand, rather than from the comfort of our homes watching the Discovery Channel. Sometimes it's good to get out of that comfort-zone, to challenge ourselves, to wake ourselves up! Travel is something that sticks with us. We look forward to, and plan the trip, learning about where we're going and how to get there. And then just being there - soaking up all there is in unfamiliar surroundings, exploring new territory. It excites our senses! And most importantly, there are the memories we bring home with us, which we can revisit at any time. |
